BUSHFIRE RECOVERY PROGRAM

The Bushfire Recovery Program aims to mobilising community action in response to woody weeds and priority species within priority fire affected areas.

The post bushfire environment provides a unique opportunity to reduce the impact of pest plants and animals in the landscape – the cover that protects pest animals is removed and many pest plants regenerate rapidly after fire. Unless action is taken the pest populations can increase rapidly after fires and further damage the viability of rural businesses.

The community-led approach is a proven, innovative approach to delivering community-led, strategic weed management on a State wide scale. It focuses on partnership and relationship development using a collaborative approach to build capacity within the community.
