THE WEED

Blackberry is a perennial, semi-deciduous, prickly, scrambling, semi-prostrate to almost erect shrub, with arching and entangling stems arising from a woody crown; forming thickets up to several metres high. It reproduces by seed and root suckers and by daughter plants when stem tips contact the soil. The root/crown system is the only perennial part of the plant.
